Brigadier General Ronald R. Van Stockum, USMC (deceased) was born in Cambridgeshire, England in 1916. He lost his father a week before his birth at the Battle of the Somme. During his 105 years, he wrote hundreds of columns, which were published in the Sentinel-News in Shelbyville, Kentucky, as well as several books. This collection of history begins with the earliest days of settlement in Kentucky. We read tales of the brothers, Danielle and Squier Boone, who reversed too many trails through Shelby County. We also learn about the development of the beloved family homestead, Allen Dale Farm.
