Seven Music Videos from the Lewis, Brent and Zach Mathis Band!

I rode over Saturday night to the Last Stop Brewing Company, Pub and Restaurant in Shelbyville. They had invited Lewis Mathis to bring  his family and sing original music. I’m not going to miss that opportunity!

Big Lewis and Jan Mathis, gospel and four part harmony singers, were there with four generations of their family, including Noelle, Michaela and Brent’s wife, Brittany.

On stage was their singer songwriting son Lewis, a true Bard of the Guitar who, like Tim Krekel once did, makes his living singing. Backing him up was son Zach, incredibly steady on percussion. He plays in my band and I rely on him to root down my own singing.

But the true pleasure of the evening was son Brent Mathis, singing a whole set of his original compositions. Is he better than the rest of us? I was very impressed. The musicality of  Brent’s writing swung along and elevated his lyrics. And his singing is sweet and meaningful.

Add in the accomplished drummer, Paul Woods sitting in on the conga, and you’ve got great evening of music!
